Discussion message RE: Vet Suicides have Escalated

Originally from: Pat Gardiner Guilt. Doctors and dentists are, on the whole, respectable. It is unfair to bracket respectable professions with Britain's corrupt veterinarians. Plus the fact that the report comes from the infamous British Veterinary Association, who can't even reconcile their petty cash tin or control the language of their past Presidents. (I will bet his wife gave him hell!

Discussion message RE: abattoirs what can they kill??

Originally from: Farmtalking Hi Coleen! As you know, most pet animals are usually destroyed by lethal injection or shot. As far as I know, it is only veterinary surgeons and the trained RSPCA Inspectors, who are allowed to obtain and administer the drug. They and some others, such as huntsmen, are also licensed to use humane killers as are certain people in abbatoirs, etc.. However, anyone can kill a dog, or any animal for that matter, but….

Discussion message RE: Lay Vaccination for FMD DEFRA Consultation

Originally from: Farmtalking Hi Mona! Thanks for drawing attention to this DEFRA doc. Farmers have been legally vaccinating and injecting their livestock with various drugs under the direction of their vets for years. Vaccinating to protect against FMD should have been no different and would have saved the country billions.

Discussion message RE: BVA

Originally from: Pat Gardiner Coleen You should not be too surprised. The BVA is a total shambles. I'm just amazed at the spinelessness of the average vet in putting up with this. Just look at this. Sorry about the language, ut if that is the standard of conduct at the top of theior profession, what can I say. ...me who led a sheltered life on the dockside.

Discussion message RE: Richard Potter

Originally from: Burkie Dear Mike and Friends: Mike, thanks for posting this up. It's worth it to note that the British Pig Vet Society has stated it's case in print. This was done on their own website on MARCH 16, 2001! Now isn't that something? The very same day, the Argentinian's admitted their own outbreak to the world public, and also admitted implementing a national vaccination program in Argentina. Who says dichotomy doesn't exist?

Discussion message RE: Kent Vet. struck off for false export certificates

Originally from: Farmtalking Just to put the record straight! MAFF/DEFRA had and has, no powers over veteriary licenses to practice in the UK. Vets are regulated by The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Vets who signed 'False Certificates' during 2001 did so because they chose to do so, unwittingly or not! Ignorance is no excuse!
