Re: RE: Relaunch of Defra''s BSE
Originally from: mark purdey Dear Ron, Good questions. It is the particular type of igneous rock ( granites, etc ) which determines how much radiation absorbing metal ( eg uranium, barium, strontium, etc ) is going to be present. There are quite a few different types of granite which are very varied in respect of their capacity to absorb radioactivity. |

RE: I could have stopped FMD
Originally from: frances fish This man is very brave in my opinion. He stands alone in admitting that he personally made errors. For this he is to be commended, a brave honest man. What a pity that one Tony Blair and his ministers and all the others cannot emulate his example. All we get still is whitewash and hogwash. Yes, Jane, I would not argue that there are good vets our there, of course there are. |

Re: Avian flu
Originally from: coleen Hi Hilary, There are good people on this group who care, and I guess there must be more out there who we cannot reach. If we have 'faith' and I guess we all must have , or we would simply pack in, and call it a day. Then we have to believe that one day the abusers will meet their reckoning, and the abused will stand up and be counted. |

Re: Virus shift to sheep feared
Originally from: David Oakes Hi Coleen, I agree with you that these tactics have been used before, and the good people on this board know how the game goes. That is what this is to this government a game, and they don,t give a dam whos lives are ruined and how many animals are killed along the way.We may be in a minority Coleen but i feel we can be counted, am I wrong to think that we cannot call on those,, good people who still read this board. |

Re: RE: Hunting is not the issue
Originally from: Burkie And, Bill, I have nothing against Andrew Stephens, DVm, either. But you vets need to understand something, major. We want to look up to you…and you let us down…and charge our credit cards or checkbooks outrageously. Frankly, for me…it isn't worth the hassle. I'll get rid of the animals. Gotta keep myself fed first. |

Warmwell's News Regarding Tax on Grants in U.K
Originally from: Burkie I have just read on warmwell….the plans to tax people for money granted to them last year, for losses of income incurred regarding the FMD situation. It seems to me, and I am an American, that your Government is out to destroy its own people. When these grants were made, there was no provision as to the taxability of those funds. Did anyone tell anyone that those funds would be taxable? |

RE: Communication
Originally from: coleen Dear Mike, Mary, Jane, and all I can cope with the not be heard, just. I know in my heart what is right and what is wrong – I cannot make others see or listen. Their wake up call has to come from within. What I really struggle with is the lack of compassion and the sheer greed of people. To be a nice caring person today, is to be dumped on and taken advantage of. |

RE: Live exports and Ice cream!
Originally from: coleen Dear Jane and All (second attempt) pressed the wrong button and lost the lot! I do agree with what you write Jane. I joined this group and others, because fmd was wicked, cruel the list is endless. Good people, healthy animals were all caught up in a mindless regime. The farmimg community had my full support (for what it was worth). |

THIS CASE GOES TO THE HEART OF WHAT DEMOCRACY MEANS
Originally from: Natalie This article is from today's WMN – I sent it earlier but it was in an attatachment and I know people are nervous about opening attatchments these days. Regards NATALIE 16 March 2002 The request for a public inquiry to learn the truth about foot and mouth disease was not just about country folk and their animals who were abused and trodden down by Government, it was much bigger than this. |

Scottish Royal Inquiry
Originally from: Mary Critchley I think the Royal Soc Scotland inquiry will be very much more wide ranging and genuinely probing than its English counterpart. There are some good people on the Inquiry. Can anyone here send them anything? I have publicised their request on warmwell today http://www.warmwell.com/warm1aug19. |

Re: Ghastly Statistics!
Originally from: Duncan Perhaps the point I was trying to make is that none of US have all the answers, whether it be our profession, are hobby or just our topic upon the old soapbox. And we should not ignore others their views or be afraid to admit that they might just know more than us because they come from outside that spectrum. Which is I am afraid to say what is happening. |
