Unfortunately the moderator of this group does not agree that this should count for something. The demand for a apology seems to be more important then contribution.

Discussion message Re: [FMDnew] Gill to step down from NFU

Originally from: Molly Maxwell <Subject: [FMDnew] Gill to step down from NFU> About bloody time – I heard him on the radio this morning talking his usual rubbish, boasting how he wouldn't allow vaccination during the fmd crisis and he would do the same thing again in the event of another outbreak.

Discussion message Re: Most world markets remain shut to British breeders

Originally from: lina The uproar in Holland was because we did not like what happened. At first we were taken by surprise, but very soon after that when things got clear to what they were planning to do, farmers and vets refused to cooperate. The breaking point game when they wanted to destroy Zoo animals also that almost caused a civil war. Strangely enough our so called FMD outbreak was pretty soon over after that.

Discussion message RE: Consultation Documents

Originally from: Farmtalking I have now carefully studied the Animal Health and Welfare consultation document issued by DEFRA Many of us remain extremely angry and frustrated by the manner in which the FMD crisis was handled and annoyed by Government's refusal to hold an Open Public Inquiry.

Discussion message Re: Putty Medals and Rotten Fellows?

Originally from: Jill Britten Thanks for that Andrew. Yes I remember now and was it not also the Pedigree Breeders Ascc that also blocked vaccination for their precious export trade that had been ruined anyway by the equally mishandled BSE debacle. Now I have the ammunition I will write to RASE to express views upon these awards. Surely Mark Purdey and Mary Critchley could have been more deserving winners for trying to expose myths lies and dam lies.

Discussion message Re: RE: Senior vets voice alarm

Originally from: Farmtalking I fail to see where you get that idea Gary! Andrew has merely stated a fact. The RCVS is the regulatory body for the veterinary profession in the UK and the BVA it's trade union. In other words, the BVA has no power to discipline veterinary surgeons but the RCVS does. I understand complaints concerning the behaviour of Vicky Cleghorn and several other veterinary surgeons, have been laid before the RCVS.

Discussion message Truth, Lies and "Spin"

Originally from: Mike Meredith Surveying the discussion evoked by World Healing Day has brought home to me the continuing pain and anger over the mistruths we experienced during last year's FMD crisis. Perhaps these mistruths, scientific and political, reminded us of our other experiences of offical mistruth and "spin" e.g. the early days of the BSE saga.

Discussion message RE: Truth, Lies and "Spin"

Originally from: Quita Mike, Powerful stuff! The bit about people needing to have their truth acknowledged is very important – without that happening, many people cannot move on. Some people who have read my book have rang me up, wanting to talk, even after all this time, about every detail of what happened to them (and, in some cases, we have cried together).
