Re: Fear of the Internet
Originally from: mark purdey Yes, I totally agree with you Colleen. Farmers are isolated geographically and often too knackered to go and visit friends at the end of the day to have a good exchange, so problems which you feel powerless to resolve can literally build up to explosive level if you do not have any outlet. So airing these issues on Jane's farmtalking chat site can be very therapeutic for all of us , I feel. |

Re: warmwell
Originally from: mark purdey Dear Mary, Do not become too despondent. I know exactly how you must be feeling when you put so much high quality, relevant material out into this mad, mad world, and sometimes feel that you are being sucked completely dry into a vacuum. You get so little back when you are fighting this kind of game. |

Re: Consultation on a strategic review of the National Scrapie ...
Originally from: mark purdey Hi, Yea, I think these civil servants run these so called consultation reviews with the interested parties, etc, merely so they can be seen to be democratic, as well as providing a kind of protection if things go wrong in the future; eg; the truth coming to light in some way. |

RE: TB again
Originally from: frances fish Dear Jane and Mona, Such are the tests for TB that it is little wonder that many have little faith in them. After 2001 when they slaughtered so many healthy animals would many people want to volunteer more on the basis of testing which is so unreliable ? As I say, if you wish to see the exact figures, they are posted on the Defra website and make quite alarming reading. |

A question
Originally from: Ron I've just been having a discussion with some one who is involved with the fuel protest. Amongst other things I pointed out the ambiguity of the farmer with "Buy British Beef" in the back window of his foreign built vehicle. Also, the lack of support by the farming community for the miners, steel workers, fishermen, and all the others who have been savaged over the last years. |

The Stench That Still Hangs Over Foot and Mouth
Originally from: John http://www.thisiscornwall.co.uk/displayNode.jsp?nodeId=79373&command=displayContent&sourceNode=78925&contentPK=9156537 There was a sickening smell from the foot and mouth epidemic when it was at its height in the early Spring of 2001. It was the pervasive stomach-wrenching stench of thousands of animals being burnt on pyres and of hundreds of thousands more, rotting in fields and farmyards. |

Re: Professor Brown''''s
Originally from: coleen Hi Jane Although not Paul's fault for still believing this – but it just goes to show how little of the real truth is still known out there – evening amongst the farming community. |

Re: DEFRA ANNOUNCES £1.6M RESEARCH PROJECT ON NATIONAL SCRAPIE PLAN AND BREED TRAITS
Originally from: Ron It would save a lot of time and energy, also hell of a lot of money, if the idiots who are responsible for all this so called research asked Mark Purdey for advice. Almost all the research we see today has a strong indication of jobs for the boys and/or an intention to 'prove' an already preconceived idea! We the suckers, the taxpayers and the farming community, let them get away with it. |

Re: EU COMPULSORY SCRAPIE MEASURES
Originally from: mark purdey This is bloody appalling concerning the scrapie measures – absolutely disgraceful that such a wholly unscientific policy has been able to permeate its way to the top of EU agendas and take control . |

Re: RE: Governments
Originally from: coleen Dear Pat I am not sure where I fit in, in the grand scheme of things. I have NO liking for people in power, I accept we need them (if only to prevent anarchy taking over), but then I look and see that these people in power, are corrupt and spreading it far and wide with their ever reaching tentacles. As for truth – well that is some 'slang word incorporated from Australia. 'struth' love! |
