Discussion message Re: RE: Defra''''''''s scrapie plan

Originally from: Farmtalking Well… it seems as if someone else is posting messages in my name and I'm not getting them! 'Did I say that? I don't think so! What I did say is – "Are we to remain bemoaning our state to eachother and living in fear of the future, or are we really trying to do something change the our situation? Each one of us has to decide for ourselves. I can only make suggestions that I think might be helpful.

Discussion message RE: Defra''''s scrapie plan

Originally from: Farmtalking Hi Francis and Coleen! You have both very clearly stated that you cannot and will not 'trust' and I understand the reasons why. You have also clearly stated that you want 'some sign of regret, remorse, admission, apology' and again I understand why and I would dearly like to receive the same.

Discussion message RE: Kent Vet. struck off for false export certificates

Originally from: Farmtalking Just to put the record straight! MAFF/DEFRA had and has, no powers over veteriary licenses to practice in the UK. Vets are regulated by The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Vets who signed 'False Certificates' during 2001 did so because they chose to do so, unwittingly or not! Ignorance is no excuse!

Discussion message The Chief Veterinary Officer''s Annual Report!

Originally from: Farmtalking It's not what you say it's the way you say it! Or perhaps to be more accurate, this report illustrates just how much the Chief Vet's perspective differs from our own. However carefully his words were chosen there is no doubt that we are miles apart when it comes to his interpretation of the Govt's actions during and after FMD.

Discussion message Animal Health Act

Originally from: Mary Critchley Dear Mona I have rewritten the front page of http://www.warmwell.com to bemoan this situation. Poor old Scotland. Will the farmers in Galloway and Dumfries allow this consultation to pass without protest? I also hope the Royal Society is aware of just how little its recommendations are being followed.

Originally from: Farmtalking I have now carefully studied the Animal Health and Welfare consultation document issued by DEFRA Many of us remain extremely angry and frustrated by the manner in which the FMD crisis was handled and annoyed by Government's refusal to hold an Open Public Inquiry.

Originally from: Farmtalking Don't get too excited Gary! We still have the amendments to the Animal Health Act to fight off and the Hunting with Hounds matter is by no means settled. Discussion message Compulsory Vaccination?

Originally from: Farmtalking I'm told there was a 'snippet' on TV this morning indicating that the Govt is considering introducing 'compulsory vaccination' if the slaughter policy doesn't appear to work within 48 hours in any future outbreak of FMD. Such a measure is presumed one of the reasons they consider it necessary to introduce the amendments to Animal Health Act, thus giving them the powers to 'force' complicity.

Discussion message Peter Greenhill Responds to Elliot Morley

Originally from: Farmtalking RESPONSES TO ELLIOT MORLEY`S LETTER DATED 16TH. JULY 2002. VACCINATION: In almost every report (including the Northumberland report) there has been opposition to the mediaeval slaughter only policy and a demand for vaccination. The nonsense spouted by this Government and its so-called advisors on vaccination simply flies in the face of the facts.
