I am all in favour of healthy debate, it is stimulating and often informative. When it descends into the personal I think it should be halted because there is no need for personal insults. It is said that when that is resorted to, whoever does it is losing the argument and they know it ! Its a lot like a red herring, to divert from the actual argument.Whilst I am certain that Mark can more than hold his end up and is doing so, there should be no need for George to attack his integrity. Lets remember that this argument started with the BCMS and their (sorry Gee) systems , undoubted and much publicised incompetence. Unfortunately and in common with most government computer-based systems, they do not have the correct software to do the job, they employ whoever is cheapest, competent or not and the end result ? A shambles. A computer is only, after all, a sophisticated machine. You know what they say, its only as good as the info. fed into it, so, logically, if inexperienced personel are trying to operate a system without the right software, you get errors. To be polite about it, what -comes -out -of -our -bulls -rear -in,the same emerges from t'other end when its retrieved from the poor old much malined computer .Remember the passport chaos ! Same problem. Some errors are funny.......as the query, "What sex is your bull", but many aren't. The BCMS has been up and running (if you can call it that ) for many years now and what could have been called teething problems have turned into the need for a full clearance and dentures !! Anyone take a stab at my former profession ? Answers on a PC please. (Thats a post card for those of you in the computer generation , not a personal computer !!!!! ) Frances

Since 01 /01/04 I have recorded movements for 749 individual animals every single one of these movements has been correctly recorded and there are no errors within them.
It would be illuminating to hear from the other contributors to this thread how many movements for their individual holdings they have lodged during the same period of time.
