Healthier milk straight from the cow

British scientists have found a natural way to produce healthier milk and butter, according to new research in the Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture.
Cows fed rapeseed oil as part of their daily diet produce milk with a significantly less saturated fat. Butter made from the milk is easier to spread at fridge temperatures because it is lower in saturated fat than ordinary butter.
According to Anna Fearon, one of the authors of the study: “This kind of tailored milk production could in future be applied to make any dairy product healthier, from cheese to ice creamâ€.

Incidentally "saturated" fats are far better for you. Products high in polyunsaturates, such as "Flora", whose manufacturers proudly boast of lower cholesterol, are extremely dangerous. Cholesterol lowering is achieved by causing the body to convert cholesterol to cancer causing growth hormones.
Also polyunsaturated fats are what are termed "misfits", and cannot enter the mitochondria to be oxidised. Consequently polyunsaturates are oxidised within the cell at large, giving rise to cellular damage. "Liver spots", alternatively called "Age spots", are indicative of a diet high in polyunsaturates.
In other words polyunsaturates substantially increase ones chances of getting cancer.

I meant to pick this up earlier, Bill. Your remarks about mitochondria reminded me that damage to the mitochondria is implicated, by some substantial research, in the possible causes of ME/CFS. I was originally diagnosed with ME, later this was changed to Fibro-Myalgia. There are many sufferers with these diseases, and they appear to be on the increase. Research and treatment has been held up by a few very 'noisy' psychiatrists who managed to convince most of the medical profession that 'it's all in the mind'. They should try living with it.
Incidentally I have been on a low fat diet for some years, could that be making my illness worse. Perhaps I should switch back to butter.
At aged 73 I have 'liver-spots', I thought every elderly person got them.
Cheers, Ron.

Without doubt you should avoid Flora and the like, Ron. (Avoid all hydrolised fats).
Switch back to butter and try supplementing with selenium (Bio-Selenium with Zinc from Holland and Barret) to get rid of (or at least halt the spread of) age spots.
You may get an adverse reaction with the selenium, if so try half a pill (or whatever amount you can tolerate) gradually increasing to one or two a day.
All the best,
Bill.
