Sorry Paul – That was yet another evil 'red herring' trailed by the Govt and NFU during 2001.
Those of us who have been members of this board for a long time know only too well that the supermarkets had no problem with the selling of vaccinated meat or milk and said as much at a meeting with the PM at Chequers in April 2001.
I'm sure a search on Farmtalking, Warmwell or this message board will find the relevant info for you and someone might even post it here again!

Thanks for the links but now I am totally confused.
I said
P>wasn't it more to do with supermarkets
p>not guaranteeing to take milk from vaccinated herds?
Now admittedly I am newly home from my local pub and it may all look differently in the morning, but the relevant bits I can find from Jane state
Not one of them drew attention to the fact that vaccination was successful in South America and elsewhere, or that the British public consumed vaccinated meat on a daily basis much of which was imported and vaccinated against FMD.' and
JB. 'Another 'fact' in which he is mistaken and/or his memory fails. A meeting was held at Chequers in April 2001, when the supermarkets told the PM that there was no problem with the public buying vaccinated meat.
Do my eyes fail me or is it just meat that is mentioned? and did I
not say milk?
Cheerio, Paul
