Somerset Brie

Now here is some good news for a change. The Lubborn cheese company is owned by British farmers who are members of the Co-op, DAIRY FARMERS OF GREAT BRITAIN. I'm told their Brie entry even beat the French Brie entry!

NEWS RELEASE
Organic Somerset Brie gets Gold Prize at Q Awards
Sainsbury?s Organic Somerset Brie took the top prize at this year?s Quality Food and Drink Awards announced at London?s Dorchester hotel on Wednesday 12 November.
Started in 1979 the Awards were launched to reward and encourage high quality in the food and drink sector. The Gold Award winner, Sainsbury?s Organic Somerset Brie, was singled out by the judges from over 500 entries as the best overall product in the competition.
The winning Brie is produced by the Lubborn Creamery in the valley of Cricket St Thomas in Somerset. Launched in 1998 the cheese is traditionally ripened and produced using milk sourced from dedicated west-country organic dairy farms.
The awards are judged by a panel including consumers, food critics, chefs and restaurateurs. Products are judged on their taste, texture, aroma and appearance, and are also commended for their nutritional value, packaging and presentation, and value for money.
