UK Milk price inquiry on the cards
As a result of continued pressure for a fair reward and respect for dairy farmers, a parliamentary select committee is to examine milk pricing. They will run a comparison on farm gate prices and the market price and investigate as to why increases in the market price have not led to improved farmer returns. Those wishing to assist can send in evidence in no more that 3,000 words by 9th February. This is clear evidence that MP?s recognise that someone other than farmers is making the money in dairying. On todays (21st) Farming Today, Dairy Crest were specified as a problem in failing to pass back to dairy farmers the full increase.
