Sorry Gary –
I have no idea, other than perhaps a case of server over-load with your ISP? My messages seem to hav appeared very quickly as usual – of one thing I'm certain, there's nothing sinister going on!

Hi Jane,
I have the messages set immediately but sometimes it
does take for ever for them to show up. Some of them
never show up at all. That happens on FMD also so it
is not just this list.
Take care,
Lina
ps, i am sure nobody is blaming you for it so please
do not feel attacked.

Hi Francis! As far as I know, those who have chosen to receive
messages 'immediately' do receive them
'immediately'.The delay in some of them appearing on the
Smartgroups Board may perhaps be due to extra e-mail
being used due to the Post office strike in the UK,
and so a somewhat 'overloaded' Smartgroup's server.
Alternatvely it may simply be due to maintenance
being conducted by freeserve.Of one thing I am certain, there is nothing
'sinister' going on!There are far more inflamatory web sites and
messages being sent all over the world than ours,
and by many more people than the few of us! I don't
believe my phones have ever bee 'tapped' but would
be quite unconcerned if they were!Gary has even become suspicious that I had 'bumped
him off the board' which is quite untrue!I have frequently said I believe in freedom of
speech and will repeat again, that I will not and
have never 'barred' anyone from this board other
than those who have sent spam messages offering 'get
rich quick schemes' etc.All I ask is that group members be constructive,
courteous and polite in their postings and I hope
that's not too much to ask! There's a lot going on in the world that we don't
like and a percentage of it is revealed here but I
see few messages here that suggest constructive
alternatives that perhaps the 'powers that be' might
be willing to consider!Take care and have a good day!

Dear Jane, Sorry to have to tell you, but Gary isright. I sent a message at about 7–00a.m. this
morning and it finally got posted at 16–29 ! Where
had it been in the meantime ? Are more people
sending E-mail due to the postal disruptions ? Is
there a sinister plot to delay our
inter-communication ? Probably the former but you
never know, they aren't supposed to tap our phones
either are they ? Its usually a pretty accurate
indicator of some person or persons unknown not
liking what has been posted. It used to be called
censorship, heaven knows what it is called now, but
we are adults and we do know that it happens, we
would be extremely naive to think otherwise.
Sometimes it is better to remain in
ignorance(blissful or otherwise ).Nowadays this is
called being "in denial", I believe. But you may
sleep more soundly because of it !Frances

Am trying to find out if this problem is at my end or SG's end.
My ISP says it has to be SG's.

I think we would be somewhat naive to be under the impression this site was not monitored. Foot-and-Mouth disease, BSE, Scrapie are issues that involve enough Pounds/Dollars/Euros to send this country into bankruptcy. A vial of FMD virus in the wrong hands could cause more economic damage than a small nuclear device.
The fact that postings are being delayed by anything up to several hours probably means they are being put into a holding tank until someone gets round to looking at them.

If anyone has not had the post on CAP Reform meetings please look on Farmtalking message board
I have been having the same problems with my smartgroups horse forum and contacted smartgroups response several times--they do know.

Dear Jane....you know me pretty well. This SG Forum is no longer dependable. I don't like being monitored by groups that sell our efforts to communicate with one another for money for themselves. I understand that this was a freely-offered service which benefitted a lot of people two years ago. But I cannot tolerate the dishonesty of Freeserve and those that sell our information to others. We've been working for nothing. This has cost me too much already. Time to pay attention to my own business. I've loved you all. Hoped and prayed for you to pick up the flag and carry it forward.
Am sure you will.
The inability to communicate with one another...for those that want to know....and make money off our efforts to help one another...will be the downfall of society.
Bye. It's been a hoot.
