Mary,
Written to Scottish Farmer and Robin Maynard. If several people write we stand a chance of getting published.
Cumberland News report fairly negative, farmers commenting 'we will stick with what we know', getting farmers to change 'is like drawing teeth' Better covered by Westmorland Gazette who laid out the 5 point Farm Bill. Mona

Sorry Mary,
Wrote to Scottish Farmer, yes they published the letter with the 5 points but carefully edited out all the contact details!!!
Article entitled--Shetland sheep breeders concern over scrapie plan refers to new legislation this week. On DEFRA web site new pdf dated 11th Nov which I cant open.
Got letter into local paper--my MP, Russell Brown made unpleasant remarks about 'hobby farmers' in his contribution to the AHB. My letter was published under the heading COMMONS REMARKS WERE HURTFUL TO SMALL FARMERS. Lots of people had seen it when I shopped today--I definitely drew the sympathy vote--cant wait to see if he responds next week!!

ALL BREEDING RAMS NOW HAVE FULL OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN THE NATIONAL SCRAPIE PLAN
Animal Health Minister Elliot Morley announced today changes that will enable sheep farmers participating in the voluntary National Scrapie Plan to trade and breed from "Type 3 genotype" rams for a further two years. These changes will apply only to those breeds, mainly hill breeds, that because of their genotype distribution, face particular difficulty in complying with the present rules.
The changes follow detailed public consultation and represent a delay to encourage uptake under the Plan.
