I just find it very
depressing – that there is no apparent way to break through this total
blanket control the Governement seem to have over everything and everyone.

So do I Coleen, and I believe the lesson is....if we don't learn to stand together for good, DESPITE our minor differences we are easy targets.... We tried last year to get various organisations, from tourist boards to animal groups to pull together...did they? Are we, even now? Despite many countryside groups coming together on Sunday how has this been portrayed? Mostly that we are all avid hunters! Joyce

I know people have self interests to protect Jane, but there are brave men and women out there – and not all in high powered positions. My friend lost her job last year. Poorly paid shop assistant, she spoke out for the lesser people and how they were being exploited from within the company. She lost her job. She was the bread winner in that family. She cried to me over the phone. 'I am a fool, but how could I carry on, knowing what was happening'? I used to stick up for my younger Brother – even though I would get belted, and kicked out of the house, at 13 this was a very hard lesson to have to try to deal with. And, yet I did it – every time my Brother was picked on.
The problem is 'you and I are accountable for out mistakes Jane, people in high places do not seem (in the present climate) to have to answer to anyone.
Should it matter how obsecure – the fight is. One person injured – or thousands – surely the result should be the same. Injustise can only thrive – when people in high places let it. Why should politicians be voted in – to virtually have a 'free' for all party of a time, at our expense. I am not suggesting that P Thomas is/was the only one – I just find it very depressing – that there is no apparent way to break through this total blanket control the Governement seem to have over everything and everyone.

Coleen,
Protecting self-interest is to put it rather mildly. Even before virus testing was abandoned the regime favoured negative results.
Now that virus testing has been abandoned it will be virtually impossible to get a positive result from an animal that has been infected for less than five days.
The regime may have been changed purely through ignorance but the alternative (and more likely) explanation is so we can fraudulently claim disease free status.
If this is the case there is always the possibility a few scapegoats will be going to jail.
Bill.
