Hi all

Please can anyone help me out. I have been asked to find out whether in the opening stages of FMD last year the police offered to set up emergency headquarters and were refused? Can anyone shed any light on this?

Also does anyone get the Farmers Guardian? Apparently (page 66) there is a letter concerning a live virus test which causes FMD (?) – I can't seem to get the Farmers Guardian on line – any help would be appreciated as I would really like to know what this is all about.

Thanks gang
Luv
Lynne

It is there Lynne, The countryside restoration trust believe the virus originated from live virus experiments in northumberland by the govt.

This had been aired before, it seem to come from accusation by a woman called patricia doyle (from memory) an american woman with a web site which i think is www.labgirl.com

It's all unsubstantiated stuff though, and likely to remain so.

Sorry i can't be more helpful but i'm a bit pushed for time.

I'd like to ask a suplementary question of jane though:

Some time ago, a cumbrian vet broke ranks with MAFFand stated that he had found healed lesions in sheep which suggested that they had been infected before waugh's pigs, according to the independent the gentleman concerned was Stuart Renton.

http://www.independent.co.uk/story.jsp?story=69513

But according one of the three inquiry reports:

A veterinary surgeon working for DEFRA is alleged to have indicated that
he had seen disease that pre-dated that seen at Burnside Farm

The veterinary surgeon in question was identified and confirmed that
this allegation was incorrect.

If i remember rightly Jane was in contact with the vet concerned at the time, has he since changed his mind or has the report been a little economical with the truth in this respect?

Many thanks to both of you.

What about Police Emergency Headquarters – anyone know anything about this?

The url Andrew gave for Patricia Doyle seems to be a website under construction and blank at present. However there are several references to her and her work on google.com and at the following – http://www.rense.com/general9/fttd.htm

As regards Stuart Renton, I don't think he has retracted his statement of last April! However, I will give him a call and find out and let then you know!

Cheers jane, that would be a great help, it would be an interestring test of the veracity of the various inquiries to see if they had indeed contacted Stuart as they claim.

I will try and talk to Stuart Renton tomorrow but meanwhile Bruce has sent me the following message which may be helpful. –

"
Hi Jane,
This may help. Stuart Renton was one of several vets that I interviewed at the start of FMD. He was not a fully-employed "MAFF vet" and first commented on the lesions in his monthly client newsletter and I subsequently received this from a local farmer. I spoke to Stuart on several occasions and he agreed to be interviewed and exchanged the information with The Newcastle Evening Chronicle. I was in daily contact with Chris Blackhurst at The Independent and the story found further coverage via that outlet.

I haven't spoken or had any contact with US scientist Pat Doyle for several months but sadly, Pat has a terminal illness. I'm sure we all hope Pat is well. The Northumberland Research Centre story was also extensively investigated by myself and The Evening Chronicle. After several weeks of investigations these leads were dismissed for a multitude of reasons (One of the secret "labs" was the local Genus AI and ADAS office at Bywell – just off the A69 and four miles from Burnside) Others may subsequently think we are wrong on this subject. At the time, our various thoughts and reasons had indicated a potential source.

Best wishes
Bruce"
