650 farms, mostly pig farms, but including some poultry farms have been quarantined this week in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.
Dutch and Belgian food officials have said that meat from contaminated farms was sold in shops in the last two months but they have ruled out any serious risk to public health, although Reuters say that conclusive results are not out yet.
