Vaccines are big, big, business, Coleen. Have a look at _www.powderject.com_ (http://www.powderject.com)
now owned by the mighty Chiron Corporation.

Quite obviously it makes no sense whatsoever trying to vaccinate ones way out of an epidemic. If people are already carrying the virus but not yet showing symptoms the vaccine will mitigate the severity of the disease. The result of that is instead of being sick in bed the infected person will be going to work, possibly travelling on public transport, and infecting all and sundry.

Vaccination is for preventing epidemics, not for controlling them. In fact vaccinating during an epidemic will help to spread the virus.

But the country is run by big business, that's why avian flu is being hyped so much. (Do you remember the 60 million doses of smallpox vaccine Blair ordered from PowderJect? I think the order was quietly cancelled, with generous compensation to PowderJect of course)

All the best,
Bill.
