Public Access with Land Management

Tweed Horizons Centre, Newtown St Boswells.
These workshops are for land managers, including farmers, estate managers, crofters and their advisors. They will explore how best to plan for and integrate recreation and access with land management operations. This event may also be of interest to some local authority access staff.
The workshops aim to examine practical ways for land managers to positively integrate visitor access on their holding (including whole farms, estates, and crofts). The whole day workshop will include case studies and a farm visit.
You will have the opportunity to:
– clarify rights and responsibilities that accompany the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003.
– identify practical ways of positively managing public access,
– consider issues surrounding liability and health and safety,
– obtain advisory material and sources of further practical guidance.
(Whole day workshop on 18th October only:)
– visit a farm and put the theory into practice,
Half-day workshops: (There will not be a farm visit included in these workshops)

These events are being delivered as part of SNH's programme to publicise and promote understanding of the Scottish Outdoor Access Code. These events are free, but priority will be given to existing land and recreation managers or their advisors.
