Originally from memory I believe the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 applies specifically to those animals used in scientific procedures (ie experiments). If there were any cruelty involved it would be the 1911 act which would apply. I am not familiar with the law governing what should/shouldn't happen in abbatoirs.

Hi Jane

Apparently it was an animal feed abattoir and the dog was a Border Collie. The person seems very consistent and sound, it what they write.

As this has been carried out already I guess there is little that can be done (if there ever was).

The person concerned has been advised to contact the local RSPCA (who else is there) and EH to see what their view is.

I find it sad... but there is no accounting for people and their actions.
