Hi Jane
I think it will be enough, let me explain why. Everyone, not unreasonably, approaches the problem from either a scientific or a party political basis. That can only take you so far, especially where the opposition have been as lethargic as they have on this.
Once you take it outside the UK, which I have now done, and once you disprove the current explanation, the lies have to be explained.
The liars will blame those who told them to lie....whistleblowers will emerge into a judicial process.
Scientific proof is not the only proof. Indeed, it has sometimes proved to be an unreliable proof. It is only as good as the scientists and the reliability of the data.

Yes Pat – you may be right! but... the facts are that 'almost certainly' is not good enough!
To surmise that the Govt. or anyone else, actually 'knows and has proof of' the source of either, simply will not do and unless and until someone has it, which I doubt they ever will, there's nothing to be gained by it.
We have to deal with 'absolute' and 'proven' facts as we know them if we are to ensure the events of 2001 are not repeated.
They include above all, 'vaccination'!
There is little doubt that at the very least an apology and/or compensation is due to many for damages caused by negligence/incompetance/illegalities, etc. but the liklihood of receiving either seems very unlikely to me.
Once again I'm reminded of the prayer – 'Lord grant me strength to change the thinks I can change, accept the things I cannot change and the wisdom to know the difference'
Best wishes – Jane

Waugh's is the hinge on which the whole fiasco swings.
I can assure you that the Private Eye article is right, but it does
not go far enough. There are so many oddities surrounding the whole
business to make nothing about it believable. People present at the
trial and who know the main people involved have spoken to me in
confidence too. What they have to say is horrifying. As you probably
know, whatever you may read elsewhere, I was the man that blew the
whistle on the Chinese fabrication and have the emails to HMC&E
Newcastle on Tyne to prove it, and HMC&E acknowledgment. Those
documents with others are available here for inspection by any
respectable person unconnected with the RCVS, NFU or Government by
arrangement. These documents with many others have been supplied to
OLAF – the serious fraud office of the EC. I'm now making arrangements
for them to be provided to the United Nations. Britain's government
vets have been trying to spark a trade war to protect their
disintegrating reputations – and now according to the UN one third of
the world's meat trade is held up by non-tariff barriers. What I have
never disclosed was the whole story. Maff were so desperate to pin the
blame on Waugh and on infected illegal meat that they were prepared to
go to almost any lengths...and did go to any lengths including very
serious criminal offences. There is a well-funded non-govermental
campaign now under way to try to prove that huge volumes of illegal
infected meat are entering the country. The logic is faulty and the
statistics produced by the Veterinary Laboratories Agency are
laughable. I would advise anyone who can add two and two together and
is reasonably sceptical to wade through them.
Absolute nonsense deliberately designed to mislead and get the veterinary
industry off the hook.
The source of CSF and FMD was almost certainly legally imported pigs
sanctioned by the State Veterinary Service. FMD travelled from East Anglia
to Waugh and back again.
That is why Maff vets have now been placed under HMC&E supervision in
Britain's sea and airports. That is why the famous two Labradors are
getting
fat at Heathrow. The government does know the true source and can't afford
to waste time on bushmeat nonsense. They probably knew in March 2001.
If you recall the army was called in shortly thereafter and Maff
abolished.
Recall Blair gave evidence in secret to the Inquiry. Why?

Subject: [farmtalking] Spinning Swill?
I notice on Warmwell that attention is drawn to the article by Muckspeader
in Private eye and the Jason Podmore case.
Although Govt chose to believe that FMD was initially found at Cheale
Meats
in Essex in pigs from Bobby Waugh's farm it was never proven.
However, the then Minister, Nick Brown, ordered the cessation of feeding
swill to pigs nationwide but there has never been proof that the 2001 FMD
epidmic in the UK was initiated by infected pigs from Bobby Waugh's Farm
or
from the swill he provided.
In fact, no one knows from whence it came!
The 62 swill producers, forced out of business and as in Jason's case,
forced into bankruptcy by this 'knee-jerk' legislation would seem to have
a
good case for compensation but... will they get it?
It may seem the treatment they recieved at the time was 'cavalier' in the
extreme and the fact that swill continues to be produced and fed in many
other European countries, must aid their case, but...I can also see DEFRA
claiming that the decision they made at the time was with what was thought
then was in the best interests of the country. An excuse they are likely
to
use and apply to many other criticisms of their decisions taken during
2001
and since!
