I can assure you that the Private Eye article is right, but it does not go far enough. There are so many oddities surrounding the whole business to make nothing about it believable. People present at the trial and who know the main people involved have spoken to me in confidence too. What they have to say is horrifying.

As you probably know, whatever you may read elsewhere, I was the man that blew the whistle on the Chinese fabrication and have the emails to HMC&E Newcastle on Tyne to prove it, and HMC&E acknowledgment. Those documents with others are available here for inspection by any respectable person unconnected with the RCVS, NFU or Government by arrangement.

These documents with many others have been supplied to OLAF – the serious fraud office of the EC. I'm now making arrangements for them to be provided to the United Nations.

Britain's government vets have been trying to spark a trade war to protect their disintegrating reputations – and now according to the UN one third of the world's meat trade is held up by non-tariff barriers.

What I have never disclosed was the whole story. Maff were so desperate to pin the blame on Waugh and on infected illegal meat that they were prepared to go to almost any lengths...and did go to any lengths including very serious criminal offences.

There is a well-funded non-govermental campaign now under way to try to prove that huge volumes of illegal infected meat are entering the country. The logic is faulty and the statistics produced by the Veterinary Laboratories Agency are laughable.

I would advise anyone who can add two and two together and is reasonably sceptical to wade through them.

Absolute nonsense deliberately designed to mislead and get the veterinary industry off the hook.

The source of CSF and FMD was almost certainly legally imported pigs sanctioned by the State Veterinary Service. FMD travelled from East Anglia to Waugh and back again.

That is why Maff vets have now been placed under HMC&E supervision in Britain's sea and airports. That is why the famous two Labradors are getting fat at Heathrow. The government does know the true source and can't afford to waste time on bushmeat nonsense. They probably knew in March 2001.

If you recall the army was called in shortly thereafter and Maff abolished. Recall Blair gave evidence in secret to the Inquiry. Why?
