I expect my body to perform like a twenty year olds. It is 3 times plus that and it doesn't. This frustrates and annoys and disappoints me. My grip is not good and my fingers won't bend and I take cod liver oil to make my joints more mobile. I do not think it works too well, perhaps my expectations are too high.We all get older, time passes and often we do not realise how fast it is going. It seems like only yesterday that I was tying the holly wreath for the front door and yet it has to be 12 months ago! They say time flies if you are enjoying yourself, but I think it also does if you are very busy. My mother had a saying that it was better to wear out than rust out, and she was a goer, my mother ! I miss my mother, her wisdom and her understanding. I now have grandchildren and I see how quickly they are growing and changing and I know that life is a cycle. If you believe in the afterlife and re-incarnation, it is also a circle which will be completed and go on. This is how it has been and ,barring the extermination of the human race, will continue to be.The FMD and the slaughter of our sheep in 2001 was a very painful and traumatic experience for us, despite a newspaper report, we still await the Ombudsmans verdict.Where I experience injustice or see it meted out to others I shall continue, as always to fight back with the outrage of a twenty year old. But, life does go on and my sheep, the cattle, our dogs and cats, my sons and daughters -in -law, my grandchildren all give me joy and belief that it does. On that note, may I wish you all a very happy and a blessed Christmas ? Frances
P.S. I hate cod liver oil and am going to try something different in the New Year, which is when the diet is also due to kick in so people will be seeing less of me (I HOPE!!!)
