An Early Day Motion on milk prices is being tabled for MPs to sign up to by Albert Owen MP (Ynys Mon). EDM 1803 farmgate price of milk

"That this House supports the National Farmers' Union's and the Farmers' Union of Wales' campaign to highlight the uneconomical farmgate price of milk received by British dairy farmers, and calls on the government to urge the powerful dairies and multi-retailers to ensure returns are passed back to dairy farmers to re-invest in the industry and prevent the demise of the British dairy farming sector"

There will also be a 90 – minute debate in Westminster Hall on the dairy industry at 2 pm on Tuesday, 28 October.

FARM urges all its members and supporters to contact their local MP and ask them to sign and support this very important motion on behalf of dairy farmers and attend the debate.

Contact details for your local MP can be found at www.faxyourmp.com or http://www.locata.co.uk/commons/

Farmers For Action (FFA) and the farmers on their picket lines have done most if not all of the hard work to bring this issue into the public eye and up the political agenda.

“It is very disappointing to accept that our relationship is no further on with the NFU, and that they could not take the trouble to inform FFA of the above event. Nevertheless, we know it is your campaign as FFA members and that without members and non members manning the picket lines, this would not be happening. So well done, and although there is barely enough time to contact your MP, we would urge that you do so if possible.”

Quite so. FARM members and others can also add to the pressure on the supermarkets to pay farmers fair prices by using our Supermarket stickers bearing the topical message:

'Who's creaming it?

Farmer paid 9p a pint...

Shopper pays?
