Dear All

As it seems the Countryside March is covering other issues apart from hunting, and that you do not have to be in favour of hunting to take part, I wondered if anybody wanted to meet up and march calling for the Govt to get on in accepting the RS report for vaccination, in opposition to the Animal Health Bill – and generally to say that there must be a better future for rural communities, farming and the rural economy than what we witnessed last year.

I had a phone call from Robert Uhlig of the Daily Telegraph on Friday asking if the NFMG, and Foot and Mouth movement were taking part – and it would be nice to get together if anyone is interested.

We could perhaps join in behind Farmers for Action – as they seem to have been the most vocal in trying to get the message across that food production and farming in the UK will disappear unless there is a major change in Govt Policy. After the NFU's performance last year I don't feel they deserve us swelling their ranks – but open to offers of other arrangements.

As we did with the Public Inquiry march last year I could produce a Press Release explaining and expanding on the three issues above- on why we are taking part.

Any thoughts or ideas please phone or email if you think we could get together – 01285 644319 or 01285 656812 (office answerphone) – the Vaccination Programme submitted to the RS was a major breakthrough (thanks to all the help from Keith Sumption, Paul Sutmoller, Simon Barteling and Sheila Crispin and Sarah Binns). – but we need to make sure the Govt moves on the RS report recommendations. as to the Animal Health bill – well need I say more.

Please feel free to circulate to others you think may be interested.

Best wishes, Janet
