 I'm unable to get into any lengthy correspondence with Farmtalking contributors, though I had hoped to clarify certain points about the waste-heap, but evidently not.

For the record: I never said, "bones were burning" or "burning bones".

I would like to add, for the record, that the Government retracted the allegation that the source of FMD last year was infected meat from Chinese restaurants and a considerable sum was paid in compensation to the Chinese.

In fact I have grave doubts that the source of the FMD virus in 2001 was indeed infected imported meat, although I accept that such a source is possible at any time.
